POST 7: Changes to my Study Program

In my opinion, one of the biggest problems in film and television at ICEI is the
curriculum. From my point of view, it is not well planned in order to strengthen
an artist's vision. There are many subjects that have to do with journalism, more
than with what is properly artistic, in my opinion, the subject of aesthetics
should exist throughout the career (Aesthetics 1, 2, 3, and 4, at least).
I understand that any other art career exists in this modality, and the problem
with this is that in general the filmmaker knows very little about art, does not
understand the importance of being able to relate ethics, politics and aesthetics,
does not understand its dimension philosophy, nor its impact on understanding
contemporary cultural phenomena.

Another weak point in my opinion is the imbalance that exists between the
importance of practice and theory, in my opinion these two aspects are not
sophisticated enough to prepare the student. I think that all branches of cinema
should have both facets, but it happens that in the workshop, for example, we have
no theory, we only watch movies, this generally means that we cannot produce an
appropriate criticism of the work we do.

Another fault that I perceive is the available equipment, and I do not mean that
the equipment that exists is of poor quality, but it is too conventional.
For example, there should not only be traditional cameras for cinema, there could
be vhs, security cameras, handycam or gopro, to expand the range of possibilities
to create. Sometimes, in the field, we don't need the best cameras, but smaller
ones, that have a lot of zoom, or that can be put under water, or in places that
are difficult to access, like under a car, or something like that.
